    Buoyancy Check Dive

All Tropical Reef Diver and EcoDiver course participants must complete the Aqualogy Buoyancy Check Dive, prior to beginning the course.

What is the Aqualogy Buoyancy Check Dive?

The Aqualogy Buoyancy Check Dive is a dive - usually made on our house reef - where we assess your buoyancy skills to ensure you meet the buoyancy requirements for enrolling on one of our core courses (Our core courses are the Tropical Reef Diver and EcoDiver courses).

Divers with poor buoyancy skills can cause severe damage to coral reefs and we do not want to add to this phenomena.
If we feel that your buoyancy skills are not quite perfect enough we can use this Check Dive to practise some buoyancy control techniques. If further practise is required, we will encourage you to take part in a buoyance clinic

Why must I take the Buoyancy Check Dive?

We feel that good buoyancy is an important part of reef and diver education.
Good buoyancy control is a skill that can be further perfected, every time you dive - if you know some good techniques to practise. We hope that every diver will gain something from this dive.

Good buoyancy control can help with many other diving activities. Underwater Photographers see good buoyancy control as essential to taking good photos.

If you have any further questions, or are worried about your buoyancy, you are welcome to contact us to discuss any matter further.

We keep group sizes small to ensure you receive maximum benefit from your tuition. This also minimises negative impact on the reefs. Our emphasis is on safety, fun and personal service within a relaxed and stress-free environment.
