    Discover Fish Biology

    2 days, 3 dives, Age 15+

Short on time, but want to learn? Discover Fish Biology is a 2 day course designed to introduce you to the study of fish behaviour and interaction. The aim is to help you to distinguish between fish species more easily.

    What is Discover Fish Biology?

Fish Biology is the study of the classification, physiology and ecology of fish species. Aqualogy’s Discover Fish Biology Course aims to outline the reasons behind fish behaviour in our area.

The Andaman Sea is one of the richest seas on our planet and is home to an enormous diversity of aquatic life. You can see more different species of animal on a coral reef in 10 minutes, than you can in 10 hours in a rainforest.

    Have you ever asked yourself:

    • Do Clownfish have parents?
    • What does a Manta Ray eat?
    • Do fish need to drink?
    • How do they sleep?

You can find the answers to these questions, and many more during this course.

    What will I learn?

The 2-day mini-course introduces you to general classification skills that will enable you to identify local tropical marine species, more easily.

In-water activities are encouraged to further cement your learning. You’ll participate in experiments and excursions to learn about Zoology and gain hands-on experience with real marine animals. We’ll take you to some of the best dive-sites in Thailand, where you’ll observe and interact with a huge variety of marine species.

The course includes a day learning about classification techniques and putting this knowledge into practice with real marine species, and 2 dives to some of the most interesting and diverse dive-sites in Thailand.

    Who can participate?

You should be eligible to participate in the Discover Zoology course if you meet the following criteria:

    • Aged 15+
    • Certified PADI Open Water Diver (or equivalent)
    • Interested in Marine Science
    • In general good health and fitness
    • Not suffering from cold or ear infection
    • Have successfully completed the Aqualogy Buoyancy Check Dive
